This nationally recognised First Aid course delivers comprehensive instruction and practical training in line with:

You’ll gain the skills and knowledge to recognise emergencies and provide immediate and effective first aid to anyone experiencing sudden illness or injury.
What You'll Learn
The course covers:

Assessing the casualty and ensuring scene safety

Contacting and communicating with emergency services

Using available resources to provide effective first aid

Performing CPR and using a defibrillator (AED)
-
Administering an autoinjector for anaphylaxis

Administering asthma medication
-
Assisting a choking casualty
-
Managing:

Bleeding and shock
-
Fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains
-
Envenomation (e.g., snake or spider bites)
-
Non-life-threatening wounds (e.g., nosebleeds, minor cuts)

Additional topics include:

Basic anatomy and physiology relevant to adults, children, and infants

The chain of survival
-
Psychological impacts of incidents and when to seek help
-
Written and verbal reporting of incidents

Reviewing responses to improve future performance
Units Delivered
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a statement of attainment for:

HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Entry Requirements

Ability to perform physical tasks, including:

2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor

Rescue breathing techniques using manikins
-

Access to a device with internet for any online pre-course study
Duration

Online Study + Face-to-Face Assessment:
Minimum 120 minutes in-person, plus self-paced online study beforehand
Assessment

Written: Multiple-choice theory test
-
Practical: Performance tasks and simulated scenarios, such as:

Adult and infant CPR (incl. AED use)
-
Recovery position
-
First aid for asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, bleeding, fractures, etc.

Incident report form completion
-
Certificate Renewal
-
Industry recommendation: Renew every 3 years
-
CPR component: Renew every 12 months
